So far, so good with these. You do have to be within about 4-8 feet away from the candle, but I found that this depends on the candle itself. I have white candles that I can use from a further distance. I also have darker bark-covered candles that require me to hover over the top of the candles. But....it is still much better than reaching into the holder, turning the candle upside down, turning it ON, and then putting it back into the holder...then repeating these steps to turn it OFF. Just be aware that you may have to get close to some candles. These also work right through my glass windows to turn on the outdoor candles on my patio, but I do have to be up against the window, and the candles are quite close by. They were a little more stubborn during the freezing cold winter mornings, but I think that has more to do with the electronics inside the candles, and not this remote. ALSO...these work with ALL of my remote-ready Luminara candles, even though I bought my candles at different times, from different stores. I bought a few of these that I keep around the house so that I don't have to hunt for one when I've misplaced the one I was using.I ordered this about two months ago. I finally purchased four of the flamelss candle. Oh my I absolutely love them, but what's ever greater is the adorable remote control. I'm honest I don't have many remotes controls besides my tv ones. Yes some people complained about getting close to the candle but hey that better than picking up the candles and turning it off since everyone of mine are in a glass container of some sort. So far this has worked wonderful but since I don't turn on the candles must so far so good.Our lights went off the other night and it was great to have the candles burning. Once the lights came back on I turned the candles off, going around using my remotes was great, I stood probably anywhere from five to 10 feet away. Not to bad for such a small remote. I beiive you willl enjoy this little remote especially if you have your candles in a lantern, or any enclosed holder. For this amount of money you will not go wrong ...you spend this amount on those fancy coffees everyone seem to love (LOL)This is a small remote, but it did it's job, turning on and off my candles. I had four candles set up outside in lanterns for holiday decorations. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to just open my door and turn on/off the candles... I had to go to each one individually and click the button. Much easier than pulling the candles out to turn on/off, wasting batteries by leaving them on all the time, or being limited to the 5-hour timer. But I did find that I'd occasionally neglect to turn them on or off because it required me to go outside in the cold and sometimes you just don't feel like it! If you are using the candles inside, the remote is probably much more useful. One click might get all of them if they are bunched together. But overall, I'm glad I bought the remote and will continue to use it over the years.Works like a charm! At first we could not get it to work. It came with no instructions. However, I logged onto Amazon and read the customer reviews and found out what to do.1. The candle must be in the on position.2. You must stand 4 to 8 feet away from the candle for it to work.I am so glad I ordered this. Now my candles won't eat up my batteries. I can turn them on and then off when needed. And the one remote works on all my candles. It even operates my old Luminara candles.Go ahead and order this remote. You won't be sorry.These things make candles in hard to reach places work wonderfully. I use them in my bedroom the most b/c when I am ready to go to sleep I don't have to get up and turn the candles off I just point and click and never have to leave the comfort of the covers on a cold winter night!!! Can use one to control all candles, but I have one for each room that I have candles in so I don't forget to take it with me.Bought some Luminara candles several months ago and put them in sconces high on the wall. My 6' 6" husband was the only one who could reach them to turn them on or off -- a real pain. This remote is great... I just push a button to turn them on/off. So easy! The unit came with no instructions, however, and we had to play with the candles to figure out that you have to put the switch halfway between Off and On in order for the remote to work.Even though the Luminara Candle works on a timer that works well, it's very nice to have a remote to swiftly walk around and turn all of them off, especially if you have positioned them on high shelves. I'm a huge fan of the candles and this just makes them nicer to use. The remote only works in one switch position so they need to be set right for it to work. No biggie.I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS REMOTE....I own quit a few Luminara candles from QVC and a huge sculpture on my wall from kirklands holds 9 I would never be able to cut them on and off unless I used the timers which I didn't want to do .I also bought another one for my daughter she has way more candles than me and hers are in high places she also loves hers.
